what you can expect from me

Engaging the Brain & Body

I’ll seek to understand with you what’s happening inside and why in that way.

I’ll share how the brain works and how to talk to the unique brain you have.

We’ll talk to different parts of your brain & body that deal with safety, trauma, emotions, and subconscious memory.

Pausing & Slowing Down

I’ll ask to pause and slow down to be in the here-and-now & notice what is happening inside.

I’ll invite you to connect with knowledge and wisdom that lives in you as thoughts, emotions, images, sensations, energy, movement, and memory.

Offering Choices & Seeking Consent

I’ll offer choices of where we could go and lean on your input to find our way.

I’ll ask to check inside to listen for what feels right for your system. I welcome pushback and listen for true consent.

I trust where your system brings us.

Naming & Exploring

I’ll name what I’m hearing and capturing. I’ll check for accuracy.

I’ll share my curiosities to go deeper into your inner world.

I’ll be honest about what I think will be helpful in our process to reach your longings.

Cultivating New Skills

I’ll introduce new skills to…

  • deepen your self-awareness & compassion for yourself

  • move through feelings & reality feeling more okay

  • feel empowered in your relationships

Continuity

I’ll track the themes and content of our sessions.

I’ll often ask if we can keep the thread going across sessions as we ground in your hopes for yourself.

Trauma Therapy FAQs

  • I’ll learn about you and why you’re seeking therapy, and you’ll get a sense of how I work, so we can see if we’re a good fit.

I’ll ask questions that’ll help us get clear on what you’re wanting out of therapy and what blocks you from reaching your longings.

From this conversation, I’ll offer a suggested plan for how we reach your longings through the therapeutic process.

You’ll ask me any questions and we’ll discuss next steps.

  • We’ll figure out scheduling and I’ll send you 3 consent forms that need to be reviewed and signed before the start of our session.

  • I ask for weekly commitment since we’ll aim to create a safe container to be with your inner world and dedicate our time to deep healing work.

I offer longer and/or more frequent sessions if it’s desired. I accommodate sessions up to 3 hours long and up to twice a week.

  • I don’t take insurance.

I’m licensed in NY, so only NY residents are eligible for insurance reimbursement.

I’m an out-of-network provider, and you may be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement depending on your benefits.

If you call the number on the back of your insurance card, you’ll find out your out-of-network benefits. Find out your amounts for out-of-network deductible, coinsurance %, and out-of-pocket limit.

Here's an example of out-of-network benefits:

    • If your plan has a $500 out-of-network deductible, 20% coinsurance, and out-of-pocket limit of $5,450 - that would mean you only need to pay $500 out of pocket before your insurance begins to cover 80% of the cost of your sessions. And at most, you would have to pay $5450 for covered services in a given year.

I provide monthly superbils (an itemized receipt of the services) that you could submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

  • I reserve a number of sliding scale spots for Black & Indigenous folks and people of color who experience ongoing financial oppression.

Folks who are able to meet my full rate support my capacity to make my services equitably accessible. This allows me to live in service of my values while honoring my work and need to make a livable income.

I trust you to consider honestly what your financial access and capacity looks like.
