About Me

I’m Bokyung Kim, LCSW (she/they) - a queer poly Korean therapist, educator, and artist.

I’m an ever-evolving human that’s forever shaped and changed by my work as a space holder and relational collaborator.

Boldly, I want to help people relate to themselves and every part of them with curiosity and compassion. Our power-over culture lives in our bones and I see the way it limits us from seeing the fullness of ourselves and blocks our healing.

I believe we need a paradigm shift in how we understand and be with ourselves, so that we can transform the relational and systemic conditions we live in.

I’m also a human that loves my grandmother’s kimchi, dancing like a weirdo, syncing my energy with trees and birds, and being a good friend.

I grew up in Korea, Thailand, The Philippines, Singapore, and landed in New York as an adult.

I come from a people that survived colonialism by making delicious food out of plant roots. This informs my vision for all living beings to be free from the harms of oppressive systems, and find belonging in ourselves and relationships.

My history as a social worker, being alongside young people and families involved in unjust systems, informs my dream for collective liberation and my capacity to be deeply present for people’s pain. I am clear we have to tend to our pain to transform the conditions we collectively live in.
